6 months from today is —. Six months from today is the half-year mark. Same date, six months later — unless today is March 31, in which case six months out is September 30.
Quick note: "6 months from today" and "180 days from today" are NOT always the same. Calendar months vary from 28 to 31 days, while day counts are fixed. If you need exact day-counting, use the day-count calculator instead.
Month-Counting vs. Day-Counting
Most contracts and casual plans mean "calendar month" — same date, later month. So "one month from the 15th" is the 15th of next month, regardless of whether next month has 28, 30, or 31 days.
The exception is month-end dates. If today is the 31st and next month has only 30 days, one month from today typically rolls back to the 30th, not forward to the 1st. Our calculator above handles this rule.
