SANTA ROSA, CA – Local health providers have started a campaign to vaccinate the county’s homeless population. The Press Democrat reports that the campaign, organized by Santa Rosa Community Health, the Sonoma County Medical Association and Santa Rosa-based Fox Home Health, began to vaccinate folks at shelters last week and will continue with shelters over the next several weeks. About 150 people in Santa Rosa were vaccinated last week with the campaign looking to vaccinate an additional 100 this week. After the focus on the shelters, the campaign will then set up sites to vaccinate those living outside or in their vehicles. A one day count in 2020 found 2,745 homeless individuals in the county with about 38-percent of the homeless population living in shelters.
